Things to Do and See!

The Hotel Brunswick is an intricate part of Historic Downtown Lancaster where there are many exciting things to do and see. Explore the alleyways and streets where shops and restaurants offer trinkets and unique cuisine. A plethora of art galleries compliment the quaint structures of authentic architecture where original artwork is displayed with unusual enthusiasm during our city’s “First Fridays” celebration. Numerous museums enhance the city with collections and artifacts that explain the area’s versatile and exciting background.

Central Market is the nation’s oldest continuously-operating farmer’s market. It has been offering fresh meats and produce since 1730, and is located only a block and a half from the Hotel Brunswick. Inside the beautiful Victorian structure, you can purchase a wide assortment of farm fresh foods to traditional Amish recipes to local artisan treasures!

The Fulton Opera House is one of only eight theatres to be named a National Historic Landmark. Located only several blocks from the hotel, it performs a wide assortment of famed theatrical productions and is home to the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra.

Lancaster is also home to the Lancaster Barnstormers minor league baseball. Clipper Magazine Stadium is one of the finest minor league stadiums in the country and is used for other events such as outdoor concerts, skating and sledding.

Nearby is an Underground Railroad Reenactment which depicts the important history Lancaster played in the search for freedom at “Living The Experience”.

Lancaster County is a picturesque patchwork of rolling hills filled with crops and livestock of the surrounding Plain People farms. It is here that the Amish call home in Pennsylvania Dutch Country. Little has changed over the centuries, and Horse and Buggies or a plow pulled by a team of husky horses are a common sight.

But only a short drive from the Hotel Brunswick are many other fascinating attractions within Lancaster County. Take a ride in an authentic railroad car pulled by a steam locomotive at the Strasburg Rail Road. Enjoy live performances in one of the nation’s most prolific venues, Sight and Sound Theatre. Tap your foot to an uplifting production at the “World-Class” American Music Theatre. Dare to ride the one of the exciting roller coasters at nearby HersheyPark or visit Dutch Wonderland Family Amusement Park which was recently voted one of the Top 5 Best Kids’ Amusement Parks in the World. Experience the fantasy of bygone days and knights at the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire.

If shopping is your thing, we have over 200 outlet shops within five miles of our hotel. Rockvale Outlets and Tanger Outlet Center are only minutes away. Or shop in the quaint surrounding villages of Bird-in-Hand, Intercourse, Lititz and Strasburg.

Lancaster County is known throughout the world for its culinary expertise. Try the unique flavors of the Pennsylvania Dutch in a family style restaurant, or savor the contemporary tastes in one of Lancaster County’s fine dining restaurants.
